Helping The Elderly Maintain Their Dignity During Moving Transitions

It has been a real eye opening experience for me working with seniors in regards to helping them meet their real estate needs.

The Most important thing is to ensure that they maintain their dignity throughout the entire process. Whether it is upsizing, downsizing or helping them to get into a senior living community.

I have found that when i have been working with senior assisted living communities and skilled nursing facilities that they tend to "down talk or Dumb Talk" your client almost like they are children. This can be very insulting to a senior especially when they still have all of their faculties in tact.

Please remember that during your clients transition that you are their advocate. sometimes you will need to go above and beyond. You are their data base of knowledge during this extremely stressful time for them and they will look to you for your expert advice before they make decisions. And sometimes you will need to hold their hand and walk them through each process until your close.

If you can remember to maintain their dignity and work hard for your client you will find that not only will you have a smooth transaction but you will have a complete sense of fulfillment and satisfaction which in itself is very rewarding.
